Happy new year, everyone!

The second song in my upcoming six-part album Microtonal Mania!. I used 22edo for this one, meaning each octave is split into 22 equal parts instead of the usual 12. 22edo has a perfect fifth that sounds similar to 12edo's (though it is much sharper), and since major/minor scales are based on stacking perfect fifths around an octave, major and minor scales still work. However, major intervals (made from stacking fifths upward) sound much sharper than 12edo, and minor intervals (made from stacking fifths downward) sound flatter. This means that the difference between, say, a perfect fifth and a minor sixth in 12edo is two times larger than in 22edo. I tried to utilize this small interval (aka minor second) in this piece.

Written in A♭ Aeolian (aka A♭ minor).

Please provide feedback on this piece! You can find the album on SoundCloud here.

gives me nostalgic vibes.

imo it'd be really nice if this song had a continous bass (or some other harmony), eg a rounded wave or a triangle.

i kinda find >12edo tunings overwhelmingly confusing (so many notes!!!) but the minor scale definitely helps quite a bit.

how tf do you waltz on a 22 note piano DD: yes, great as always not even gonna complain about reusing the same 2 chord progressions bc I can't do that "reusing the melody used on a different part with a different chord progression on a more off chord progression to sound like looking back on things" wth

"how tf do you waltz on a 22 note piano DD:" with the power of friendship you can do anything, including waltzing on a 22 note piano

I should rename Microtonal Mania! to "listening to the exact same chord progression for four minutes straight simulator"
